Fly by private jet charter to Art Basel Miami
Each December, the world’s leading art galleries gather in Miami for North America’s premier art fair. This year you can be there, too.
While the heart of Art Basel is – of course – the art, the whole of Miami puts its best foot forward for the festivities. Restaurants and museums teem with visitors, epic parties are thrown and some of the most influential names in art, media and fashion descend upon the city.
About Art Basel Miami
The Miami Beach Convention Center has hosted Art Basel Miami since the inaugural fair in 2002. This year, the venue will debut a more spacious layout than ever before. There is 10% more space in total, allowing for larger booths, wider aisles and more plentiful seating and dining options.
As always, galleries are organized throughout the Convention Center within several sections. The Positions section showcases emerging artists like Israel MartiÌnez, who is presented by the gallery Arredondo \ Arozarena. The Survey section is dedicated to works dated earlier than 2000, including a number of modern artists such as David Driskell at DC Moore, Willys de Castro at Henrique Feria Fine Art and Edgardo Antonio Vigo at Richard Saltoun Gallery.
In addition to the Art Basel events, a number of exciting art exhibitions are planned to run in the city over the same dates. The Institute of Contemporary Art Miami opens in a new permanent home on December 1, just in time for the festivities. Their inaugural exhibition, “The Everywhere Studioâ€, features 100 works by 50 artists exploring the significance of the artist’s studio.
Also on the scene for 2017 is The Bass, a contemporary art museum that reopened in October after a $12 million renovation. During Art Basel, the venue will host solo exhibitions by Ugo Rondinone, Pascale Marthine Tayou and Mika Rottenberg.
When the galleries close for the evening, it’s time to party. Elegant soirees are omnipresent - for instance,Bjork is set to DJ an event by III Points at Mana Wynwood on Tuesday, December 5 (tickets start at $75 and are available at this link), while Wu-Tang Clan are gracing the stage at Mana Wynwood on Saturday, December 9 (tickets available here).
