Lapland

Private jet charter and flights to Lapland

Finnish Lapland is beautiful year round, but during the winter months when snow covers the gently undulating landscape, it becomes a magical winter wonderland. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a winter sports break, have a magical Christmas themed family getaway, or experience the majesty of this rugged landscape, Air Charter Service can help you charter flights to Lapland.

Rovaniemi is the main tourist hub of Finnish Lapland, offering visitors a plethora of Christmas themed activities and events, as well as plenty of hotels and dining options. Not only that but you’ll also find lots of bars and clubs should you want something in the way of nightlife. As the capital of Lapland, Rovaniemi is very, very Christmassy during the winter months, and has been named ‘The Official Home of Santa Claus’. Here you can stay at Santa’s Hotel, visit him at Santa’s House and even see his elves, reindeer and Post Office all in Santa Claus Village. You can also do a meet and greet with the famous resident and where you’ll receive a handpicked present. Aside from Santa, there are also igloos, chalets and cabins you can stay in, as well as the more traditional hotels and B&Bs.

Away from the city proper you’ll find plenty of wintery pastimes to keep the whole family entertained. You can enjoy reindeer-drawn sleigh rides, husky sledding, snowmobiling and skiing, all surrounded by the natural beauty of this magnificent area. The villages of Levi, Pallas and Yllas are where you’ll find some of the best winter sports areas in the whole area as well as opportunities to learn more about the local Sami culture. If you’re desperate to see the northern lights, heading out of the city is also your best bet. We recommend Saariselka as it sits within a National Park in the northern reaches of Lapland, so there’s no light pollution nearby, ensuring the best views of the northern lights, when they occur.

If you’re travelling in the summer months it won’t be quite so Christmassy, but there is still plenty for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits to get up to. Hiking, biking and fishing are all popular pastimes, and the amount of remote cabins makes taking yourself off the grid an easy way to escape from modern stresses. This is also an ideal time to explore some of the local Sami culture by taking a trip to Inari, a tiny village in north-eastern Lapland where you’ll find a museum and cultural centre. There’s also nearby Ukko Island which is sacred to the Sami, where you can climb and explore cave formations.
