Further south you’ll find the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers, both popular with walkers and hikers. You can choose to hike the glacier, or take a flight over it. For something a little more serene, head down to the Fiordland National Park where you can enjoy the beauty and serenity of the fiords, and possibly take a cruise. On the opposite side of the island lies Dunedin, a little slice of Scotland in New Zealand. Home to the country’s only castle and a beautiful Victorian railway. On the southern coast lies Invercargill, the most southerly city in New Zealand and another city with Scottish heritage. It is a great base from which to explore southern New Zealand.
