Private jet charter to Oman

Dubai and Qatar are well-established favourites for Westerners after glitzy city breaks and extravagant hotels, but the Middle Eastern country of Oman is comparatively unexplored and has yet to be conquered by the expats. Charter a private jet charter to Oman and explore all that this intriguing country has to offer.

Oman’s capital city, Muscat, means ‘safe anchorage’ in English. While here, stop by the Royal Opera House, which was built in 2011 and is worth a visit for the architecture even if you don’t like opera. Dating back to the sixth century BC, this ancient port city is home to interesting sites including Al Alam Palace, Qaboos bin Said Al Said and the Al Jalali Fort, a leftover from the 16th Century when the Portuguese ruled Oman.

The best restaurants in Oman can be found in the capital. The Beach Restaurant at The Chedi serves Michelin-starred seafood on the hotel’s private beach; while Ubhar is an Omani restaurant that's great for lunch and Omani coffee – with favourite dishes including Muscat lamb fattah on flatbread and traditional desserts, like Luqaimat, a type of sweet dumpling. Another of Muscat's best restaurants is Begum’s, which serves traditional Indian Mughlai cuisine.

In the north of Oman is Wadi Ghul, a dramatic canyon that sits next to Jebel Shams – Oman’s highest mountain. Nestled high up in the Al Hajar Mountains, you can dine in style at one of the four restaurants at the five-star Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar, which sits 2,000 metres above sea level.

The picturesque beach of Zighy Bay, in the east of Oman, features a long stretch of white sand against the backdrop of the hauntingly beautiful Hajar Mountains. Here you can stay in a luxurious five-star resort, like the Six Senses Zighy Bay, where sea-facing villas come with private spa treatment rooms and plunge pools. Guests can arrange to arrive at this remote destination by speedboat or even paraglider, for the very adventurous. Only two hours away from Dubai International Airport, this also makes a great destination to chill out at afterwards if you’re visiting Dubai for business.
